The BULLSHARK Adhesion Promoter is a premium-quality product by EAH Industrial, designed to enhance the bonding of coatings to various substrates, including challenging surfaces like glass, metal, ABS plastics, fiberglass, cultured marble, and Formica. This product is ideal for use in bathtub, tile, and countertop refinishing, as well as automotive, aircraft, and marine refinishing, among other industrial applications.

For a more precise visual understanding, Bull Shark Adhesion Promoter can be likened to a diluted super glue with microscopic webbing. It forms a thin, flexible film on the surface, functioning similarly to a two-way tape. This promotes enhanced adhesion and bonding strength by securing both the existing surface and the new application.

Functions of Bull Shark Adhesion Promoter

Bull Shark Adhesion Promoter performs three different functions:

  1. Tie Coat Primer: Bonds dissimilar products effectively. When dealing with an existing topcoat or primer that cannot be stripped, mist Bull Shark over the existing layer to secure and seal it, creating a new film for the next product application.
  2. Adhesion Promoter: Ideal for Glass, Plastics, Fiberglass, Cultured Marble, Formica, or any composite surface that needs sealing and priming for adhesion.
  3. Flex Agent: To use Bull Shark as a flex agent, substitute 1 part of your reducer mix with Bull Shark. For example, if your mix requires 3 ounces of reducer, use 2 ounces of reducer and 1 ounce of Bull Shark to increase the flexibility of the topcoat. This is especially useful for surfaces subject to thermal shock, such as plastic bumpers and fiberglass components.

Surface Preparation

Proper surface preparation is critical to ensuring the effectiveness of Bull Shark Adhesion Promoter and the durability of your final coating. Follow these steps for optimal results:

1. Clean the Surface: Thoroughly clean the surface to remove any dirt, grease, oils, waxes, or previous coatings. Use an appropriate cleaner depending on the substrate—such as a degreaser for metal surfaces or a plastic cleaner for ABS plastics.
2. Sand if Necessary: For glossy or very smooth surfaces, lightly sand the area to create a better mechanical bond. Use a fine-grit sandpaper (e.g., 400-600 grit) to scuff the surface lightly. Wipe away any dust with a clean, lint-free cloth.
